Temperatures are climbing, the bees are buzzing, and the dragonflies are engaged in their mating dances. Summer is here which means that fledglings are being encouraged to leave their nests and the wading birds are back on Hoffler Creek.
Don't miss your chance to join us for one of our Summer Early Bird Walks, on the second Saturday of each month, for some of the best birding in Hampton Roads. Over 200 species of birds have been identified here at Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve and the list keeps growing. Join us before gates open to the public and tag along with local enthusiasts and experts to catch our winged inhabitants this season. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. and walks begin at 8:00 a.m.
Please be prompt because gates will be closed again at 8:10 a.m. and late arrivals cannot be accommodated. This program is free and open to the public but a small donation is suggested to help us keep offering these walks and similar programming.
