Writing the Wild: The Muse at Hoffler Creek

Hoffler Creek Wildlife Foundation and The Muse Writers Center are partnering this spring! If you are interested, sign up through The Muse Writers Center.

Writers have long used nature as inspiration and description, but also as starting points for getting to the heart of an idea or emotion in a new way. In this writing workshop at Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve, we'll look at examples of nature writing and the world of possibilities in subject, theme, and style. Each week we'll have time to explore the gentle trails of Hoffler Creek in spring—to write, and then to share and give feedback. You may write in whatever genre you wish: poetry, fiction, personal narrative, or use this opportunity to journal for personal development. Nature writing is almost never just about the tree or the lake, but about our relationships with that water, those roots, and the branches that reach purposefully into the vast, unknowable sky.
