Bats of the World

Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve is proud to host Denise Tomlinson of Bat World Hampton Roads to experience "Bats of the World", an educational and entertaining program featuring live bats!

Advance registration closed. Walk up admission available.

"Bats are clean, gentle and intelligent, they are vital to the ecosystem, and they enhance our lives in many ways. Fruit and nectar bats bring us approximately 450 commercial products and over 80 different medicines through seed dispersal and pollination. Up to 98% of all rainforest regrowth comes from seeds that have been spread by fruit bats. Insect-eating bats are literal vacuum cleaners of the night skies, eating millions upon millions of harmful bugs. They protect us by eating insect-pests that destroy crops as well as insects that cause human disease." (batworld.org)

Today, bats need our help more than ever. Bats are disappearing at alarming rates. Believe it or not, almost 40% of all bats in the world are threatened or endangered.

Bat World Hampton Roads is a 501(c) 3 non-profit conservation organization providing rescue for bats worldwide and is dedicated to the conservation of bats.

Come experience these fascinating creatures at Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve!

Cost is $12/Adult, $6/child (HCWF members get 50% off).
