Hoffler Creek Wildlife Foundation is hosting Creek Critters Day on Saturday, June 14th, at Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve. Visitors can drop by any time between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to examine creatures pulled from the creek. Professor Jessica Thompson of Christopher Newport University and volunteers will be stationed at the creekside lab to help visitors catch and understand aquatic life in local waterways.
Participants can expect to see blue crabs, sea squirts, snails, fish, shrimp, worms, and other aquatic creatures usually out of sight. Dr. Thompson will explain how these animals impact water quality in the Chesapeake Bay.
